THE WMA CONVENTION IS BACK — And it’s Better than Ever!

While the world is reeling back from the effects of the COVID19 outbreak, WMA at all times continued to assist our members whether it was by helping to sort through new legislation and public policies or getting the correct forms to you or continuing business as usual. Like most people, we were hoping that when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s morning, that we would somehow skip ahead by leaps and bounds and leave COVID19 and 2020 behind. The pandemic impacted the way we lived, worked and played. Fortunately, the end of the pandemic is on the horizon — finally! While WMA never went away, it was necessary for the in-person 2020 WMA Convention & Expo to go virtual. BUT the Convention & Expo is BACK in 2021! And, as the theme suggests, it is going to be better than ever!

Peppermill Resort Casino Spa, Reno, NV

Providing the best hotel service and amenities is an art that the Peppermill Resort Casino Spa has perfected over 40 years. Peppermill’s hotel holds the AAA Four Diamond rating for hospitality industry excellence, and is voted one of Reno’s best resort hotels year after year by leading hospitality and gaming publications. The Peppermill presents a fusion of old-world hotel style, service, and aesthetics with contemporary luxury hotel amenities.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
Top priority continues to be the health and well-being of guests. The resort has implemented the following procedures until further notice. Careful consideration has been taken with the guidance from government authorities, medical experts, and the CDC, when creating policies. The resort will continue to closely monitor recommendations from these experts and make changes as necessary to our protocols and procedures.

The health and safety of our employees and guests is our number one priority.

Hand Sanitizer
Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at key guest and employee contact areas such as driveways, reception areas, hotel lobbies, the casino floor, restaurant entrances, cages, ATMs, restrooms, meeting and convention spaces and elevator landings.

Front-of-House Signage
There will be health and hygiene reminders throughout the property and on digital media in guest rooms.

Employee & Guest Health Concerns
As part of our employee training, employees have been given clear instructions on how to respond swiftly and appropriately to all presumed cases of COVID19 infection on property in accordance with local guidelines, and they will be ready to provide full support to our guests addressing any health concerns. Employees are reminded to stay home if they do not feel well. Employees are also instructed to contact a manager if they notice a coworker or guest with symptoms associated with COVID19 such as coughing, shortness of breath, or other flu-like symptoms.

Face Coverings
Beginning Friday, July 30 at 12:01 a.m., all guests are required to wear masks at all times while indoors, per guidance from the CDC, and consistent with the directives of Governor Sisolak and the Washoe County Commission. If guests do not have a face mask, they can pick up a complimentary mask at Passport Rewards or the Front Desk.

Hotel Guest Elevators
Disinfectant wipes will be available for use by the guests at the main elevator lobby. Signage will be posted on safe elevator use and requesting that there be no more than four guests not part of the same party per elevator.

Hotel Scam Alert!

Attention: there are two scams out there! There is a company called Grow Leads that is attempting to sell a list of Convention attendees. Please know that no one, except our exhibitors are entitled to a copy of our attendee list. We never release or sell our membership or event attendee lists publicly. The second is a person identifying themselves as a convention housing organization or representative offering lower rates for Convention at the Peppermill Reno, do not give them any credit card information as the resort does not randomly call guests with offers like this. Neither the resort or WMA has contracted with any third party convention housing organization! Do not provide any information or accept a confirmation number UNLESS you have contacted Peppermill Reno directly.

Because you LOVED her in 2019, we asked her to come! Vicki Barbolak has once again agreed to come back and entertain you after all the business is attended to at the Annual Meeting and Luncheon! Stay and find out why Vicki is one of the funniest comedians selling out theaters across America! You saw her at the 2019 WMA Convention and she made you laugh until you cried! Vicki was a TOP 10 finalist and fan favorite on America’s Got Talent. Howie Mandel told Vicki and America, “I think you just came up with your own sitcom, you’re wonderful I love you.” And Simon said, “I think you’re the best comedian we’ve had on this show.” She was also featured on America’s Got Talent — The Champions in 2019. Golf Tournament

The Lakes Course at Red Hawk Golf and Resort is this year’s home to WMA’s Convention & Expo golf tournament — a benefit for the Frank J. Evans Charitable Foundation.

Red Hawk Golf and Resort’s setting is nothing short of breathtaking – nestled in the long sweeping Spanish Springs Valley and cradled on all sides by spectacular mountain ranges and dramatic desert views.

The Lakes Course at the Resort at Red Hawk is a Robert Trent Jones masterpiece that has helped vault Reno and the High Sierra into the upper echelon of West Coast golf destinations. Named the best daily fee golf experience by readers of the Reno-Gazette Journal, the Lakes Course is a challenge not to be missed.

Playing to more than 7,100 yards from the tips, the Lakes Course is a haven for big hitters who love dangerous risk-reward opportunities, as well as for players who thrive on accuracy in their golf game. More than 100 bunkers challenge golfers, as do a plethora of trees and water hazards that both add to the aesthetics of the course, and the difficulty.

Fees also include a boxed lunch, two alcohol drink tickets and unlimited non-alcohol beverages.

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. The golf course is located at 6600 N Wingfield Parkway in Sparks, Nevada. The telephone number is 775.626.6000.
