On May 9, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
issued a decision that fundamentally changes the way electricity
is billed to all customers who receive their power from the
California-regulated utilities.
California is introducing a new fixed monthly charge on
residential electric bills starting late 2025 for most customers.
This change, mandated by Assembly Bill 205, aims to achieve a

The topic of rent control returned to Butte County this year. WMA
was successful last year at stopping a push for rent control at
the county level. After that failed effort, resident activists

likelihood of passing an ordinance: the City of Chico.
It may seem too early for this, but the WMA Convention & Expo and
the annual Frank J. Evans Charitable Foundation golf tournament
are right around the corner. The golf tournament will tee off the
Convention with our return to the Revere Golf Club’s Lexington
Course in Henderson, Nevada, on Monday, October 14, 2024, with a
shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
If you’d like to learn how to become a sponsor of this year’s
tournament, keep a lookout for more information by visiting the
WMA Convention & Expo website at wma.org/conv2024.
