There are some words that, when uttered, just hit you wrong —
they illicit a visceral reaction. In recent years, for mobilehome
parkowners and private property rights advocates, that word is
“moratorium.” For example, suppose a local jurisdiction
contemplates a rent control ordinance.
Since 1937, CMHI has been advocating for the manufactured housing
industry. Established as a non-profit professional trade
association, CMHI has proudly represented builders of factory
constructed homes, retailers, financial services, developers and
community owners and their supplier companies.

On March 1, 2023, the Governor issued a proclamation of a State
of Emergency in 13 counties due to severe recent winter storms in

WMA will host a Zoom chat on the first Thursday of each month.
These informal discussions will focus on trending, pertinent
topics. This free event does not require registration.
The next Coffee Talk will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023,
10:00 am – 11:00 am.
Your participation is strongly encouraged. WMA’s legislative
advocacy team will discuss Assembly Bill 1035 (Muratsuchi), the
statewide rent control bill targeting mobilehome parks, and
explain how members can help us in our efforts to defeat this
ominous threat to the industry.
As the Legislature begins its formal committee process, please be
on the lookout for opportunities to weigh in on legislation
through the VoterVoice program utilized by WMA to help educate
legislators about important pieces of legislation.
WMA members may receive requests to share opinions with their
Senators and Assemblymembers about priority bills. WMA will be
launching a VoterVoice campaign on many of these bills and will
call upon the membership to engage and help us to defeat or pass
bills important to the manufactured housing communities industry.
We incorrectly stated the Southern California Natural Gas credit
in the February issue of the WMA Newsline. The correct amount
should be $50.77, not $56.35.
