Rent Registry Card in L.A. County: What You Should Know
Los Angeles County Consumer & Business Affairs
What Is the L.A. County’s Rent Registry?
The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) launched the County’s first online Rent Registry. The L.A. County Rent Registry, which contains portals for both property owners and tenants, will allow property owners to register and update property information, report changes in tenancy, pay annual registration fees, track case status and request exemptions. The registry will add enhanced functions in the upcoming months for property owners and tenants, including the ability to submit applications for rent adjustments, as well as property owner requests for capital improvement and primary renovation pass-throughs, and notifications of termination of tenancy directly to DCBA.
Who is Required to Register?
Landlords and mobilehome parkowners who rent units, rooms, or mobilehome spaces in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County are required to register and pay applicable registration fees on an annual basis. Some units, properties, or mobilehome spaces may be exempt from registration fees.
How Do I Register?
Online by visiting rentregistry.dcba.lacounty.gov; in-person by visiting the L.A. County Consumer & Business Affairs headquarters, or via US Mail.
How Do I Pay the Registration Fee?
Landlords and mobilehome parkowners can pay with a credit card or e-check through the online Rent Registry. Payments made by check (including cashier’s check and money order) can also be dropped off or mailed to the department at: DCBA, 320 West Temple Street, Room G-10, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
