State of Emergency in San Diego County
The County of San Diego experienced the heaviest rainfall in a single day in over 100 years last week. In response to reports of catastrophic flood damage, Governor Newsom has declared a State of Emergency for the region. This declaration will put tenant protections found in Penal Code 396 into effect. The Governor’s declaration can be found here.
Also, the County of San Diego has adopted an emergency ordinance, which includes temporary tenant protections for 60 days regulating rent increases and just cause evictions. The local ordinance can be found here.
There have also been local declarations of emergency in the City of San Diego and National City.
As always, it is imperative that parkowners coordinate any rent increase notices and eviction notices with their park’s legal counsel to ensure compliance with these new emergency declarations in various jurisdictions.
