Recently, WMA and parkowners have been thrust into a battle
against a proposed rent control ordinance in Selma.
The issue surfaced when larger-than-usual rent increases and
deteriorating relationships between parkowners and park residents
led residents to lobby the City Council aggressively for rent
control.
The California Department of Housing and Community Development
(HCD) proposes to adopt emergency regulations that, if approved,
would create and implement procedures for soliciting and
executing nonprofit legal service provider contracts, which HCD
will refer complaints to the Mobilehome Residency Law Protection
Program (MRLPP) for possible action.
In late 2015, the California Public Utilities Commission issued a
decision that ordered the utilities to issue a semi-annual bill
credit to residential and small business customers. The
credit is from a state government program that requires power
plants and other large industries that emit greenhouse gases to
buy carbon pollution permits from auctions managed by the Air
Resources Board.
